Dr. Alexander Pyka works as a delegate in the European Council at the Permanent Representation to the EU of Germany, dealing with EU-enlargement and EU foreign policy coordination on Turkey. Before, he served as Head of the Economic Section at the German Embassy in Tehran, Iran, as well as headquarters in Berlin. Before joining the Federal Foreign Office, he worked as a speechwriter for a former head of government and for the accessory private prosecution in the criminal trial against members of the “Nationalist Socialist Underground (NSU)”, a far-right German Neo-Nazi group. He studied law in Hamburg and Tel Aviv, Israel, with a PhD on the international sanctions regime against Iran. He Co-Founded the Young Initiative on Foreign Affairs and International Relations (IFAIR), an initiative that seeks to increase youth participation in global affairs.
