Dr. Gesine Weber

Dr. Gesine Weber is a Senior Researcher at the Center of Security Studies (ETH Zurich), focusing on European security and defence in the context of global power shifts and European grand strategy. Gesine has gained extensive research and policy experience through positions and fellowships at institutions in Europe, the United States, and China, including the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the Arnold A. Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies at Columbia University in New York, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Shanghai, the German parliament, the European Council on Foreign Relations, and the Notre Dame Center for International Security. She regularly advises governments and international organizations and widely publishes in European and international media and on her Substack Geopolitical Europe. She holds a PhD in Defence Studies from King’s College London and Master’s degrees from SciencesPo Paris and FU Berlin.
