Lidia Carchilan, LL.M., is a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law and is currently working on the Foundation’s projects in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. She holds a Law degree and a master’s degree in Criminal Law from Moldova State University, Republic of Moldova and an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from Lund University, Sweden. Prior to her position within the Max Planck Foundation, Ms. Carchilan has worked as a legislative reviewer in the Legislation and anti-corruption expertise Division within the National Anticorruption Centre of Republic of Moldova, specializing in reviewing penal and human rights related draft legislation. Additionally, she underwent the Talent Program at Dignity – the danish institute against torture, as well as militated for human rights within Amnesty Sweden.
