Short biography

Ozan Demircan has been working as a correspondent for the German daily Handelsblatt in Istanbul since 2015. He holds a degree in economics from the University of Cologne and at the same time completed a four-year apprenticeship at Cologne’s journalism school for politics and economics, which is independent of publishing houses. During his studies, Ozan completed exchange programs at the Higher School of Economics HSE in Moscow and at the University of Shanghai. He also completed five internships during his studies, four of them in journalistic editorial offices such as the Süddeutsche Zeitung and one PR internship at the Federation of German Industries (BDI). He has been working for the Handelsblatt since 2012, where he has researched, among other things, in the finance department and in the investigative team. Ozan is currently completing a master’s degree in international relations at Istanbul’s Bogazici University. His research interests relate primarily to the neighborly relations between Europe and Turkey.
