Short biography

Sebastian Reil works as an investment promotion and site selection consultant for a boutique advisory firm. He holds Master’s degrees in Economics and China Studies from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and Peking University in China, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Heidelberg University in Germany. During his studies, he published research papers on the topics of industrial policy, transnational investment, and special economic zones. He previously worked as a research analyst at a Beijing-based think tank and as a business analyst in the transportation practice of a large strategy consulting firm in Europe and the Middle East. During his current position, he also co-authored an overseas expansion guide for the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), which supports Turkish companies seeking to invest abroad. His research interests relate to international investment flows and the effects that economic zones and infrastructure development have on them.
