Talya Aydın works as a policy advisor specializing in local & municipal governance and urban design. She received her Bachelor of Arts in fields of Philosophy and History of Art from Vanderbilt University, class of 2019.
Aydın ran as candidate for the Turkish Parliament in the 2023 elections, being one of the first openly LGBTI+ candidates to do so within a political party in the assembly. Her campaign focused on civil equality, public and worker oriented urban design, and the feminist movement.
Talya Aydın continues her political advocacy at Worker’s Party of Turkey’s Party Council, and is the chairwoman of its LGBTI+ Bureau. Her post-electoral focus remains on making urban spaces accessible and safer for women, LGBTI+, immigrants and otherwise disadvantaged groups, founded on the principle of accessible design.
