Joseph Sattler has been working as Turkey policy advisor at the German Bundestag since 2018. In this capacity he focuses on the bilateral relations and foreign policy within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy. As an independent expert and researcher he is interested in the history and political culture of Turkey and the wider region.
Before that, he worked as an advisor between Istanbul and Berlin, founded a consulting startup, and held positions in various areas ranging from cultural management, to digital transformation in Turkey. He is a member of the board of the German-Turkish Society as well as Network Turkey and studied Middle Eastern Studies, Turkology and History at Freiburg University and Boğazici University in Istanbul.
